Cromarty

Calum Davidsons guide to Cromarty is a great example of how these postings can be used by photographers spending a few hours or a few days in a location to find the best spots and at the best time of year and offer wonderful ideas for abstract and candid shots.

Glenlyon

Colin Wilson has just given us this wonderful and knowledgeable guide to Glenlyon and I've got to say; here is someone who really knows this location. Some stunning locations and great wildlife opportunities, it's got the lot. Great work Colin.

Dava Moor

Kevin Skinners 3rd photo guide is another new location to me and another spot I'll be looking out for next time I'm near Grantown on Spey.
Thanks for another great guide Kevin.

There are many more guides in the pipeline and hopefully I'll be publishing a few over the next few weeks, in the meantime, have a good holiday and thanks again to all who have taken an interest and contributed to this project!

Isle of Lewis

Two new guides in one day and the Scotland group is coming on strong. Kevin Skinner has posted his 2nd guide after Randolph's Leap, to the wonderful Isle of Lewis and this is another example of why I like this idea so much. I spent a week in Lewis in the summer and had seen shots from the Island but wasn't sure where to find the best locations.
Another wonderful guide Kevin.

Cabrach

Bryan Watson has given us our 5th Free Photo Giude of the area of Cabrach. A remote upland area on the Aberdeen-shire Moray boundary and his photography is excellent. What I especially like about this guide (apart from the addition of grid references...nice touch Bryan) is that its an area that, to the best of my knowledge, is not well known. So not only has he introduced a new location but has given us exact locations to find stunning shots. So remember, it's not only the well kent places we're looking for!

A Great Start to the Scotland Group

It's been a busy week and despite the holiday nonsense which just get's in the way of our photography, I've had some great responses from some wonderful photographers. Kevin Skinner posted the first of 5 guides he's working on, Glen Etive, Rannoch Moor, Isle of Lewis and Dava Moor to follow soon. Calum Davidsons going to be giving us guides to the Kyle of Tongue and his hometown of Cromarty.
David Hutcheson is working on Glen Kinglass and Lochan na h'Achlaise ( I had to copy and paste that David!) & Loch Ba, truly stunning locations...
One of Scotlands finest Duncan Smith, a Flickr favourite of mine, is hoping to give us South and North Queensferry and we've got Bryan Watson, Derek MacKenzie, MJS Ferrier and Heather Leslie hoping to contribute soon.
Already it's becoming obvious that certain locations are going to be more popular than others and the Rannoch Moor, Glen Etive area has already become a bit of a cluster but don't be put off. If one guide is quite different from another I can post a couple but lets move out a bit. If you know great photographers who are producing wonderful work from anywhere in Scotland let me know and see if they want to contribute.
Spread the word...

Elgol

First of all, welcome to the Freephotoguides for Scotland and many thanks to Brent and Rob for there patience in getting this site up and running and also to Jim whose Lossiemouth site paved the way for Scotland and provided such a great template for future postings.
I've chosen as my first guide the beautiful and popular beach of Elgol on The Isle of Skye, one of Scotlands classic views.

Jim Robertson has written a wonderful guide to the Lossiemouth area on the Moray Firth in Scotland. This is a remarkably beautiful area as, Jim's photographs amply prove.

Jim is a very fine landscape photographer.
